Number ONE Choice
I WAS OFFERED THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WITH MTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So…I’m WAY happy! They called me today AFTER I sent them an email demanding that they tell me their decision….Here’s the whole story….
I had to squeeze the information out of her! I emailed Lesley and said hey, what’s your decision? You want me or not? She emailed back and said all kinds of things…like… “we have to go through finance and see if they want to pay for your job application and there are a lot of questions to be answered, I’m still trying to figure out the process of hiring a Malaysian in Singapore..blah blah blah….”
So, naturally, when I read this email I was truly confused…and I was sitting at my computer thinking….WHAT the hell is she trying to say? I mean, she’s already going through the process of finding out how to hire me…so did they choose me? AGAIN, I sent another email 30 minutes later saying….Lesley…so did you choose me or not? 10 minutes after that, she called me from Singapore….and said, “Lydia, you are our number one choice. We have chosen you.” I was elated!!! I was SOOOOOOOOO excited and relieved to hear those long awaited words…FINALLY! Apparently Lesley had already chosen me by the second interview…. She knew weeks ago that I was the ONE! I was like, thanks for the update dude…she said, “it’s my fault, I always believe that when I think something…the other person automatically knows what I’m thinking.” Right…so to work at MTV…I’m gonna have to become a mind reader…note taken…
Although I’ve VERY VERY EXTREMELY pleased, MTV still has to ok everything with their finance department tomorrow (even though HR has already given the go ahead)….and Lesley will call me tomorrow when she gets their answer *fingers crossed*…..but that’s not the only party that has to OK me….my job application MUST be approved my the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore…(goody goody). If they say no way….it’s not happening….so now….I wait…AGAIN….for more weeks….to hear if Singapore allows me to have the job I’ve been dreaming about for months. At least I now know…MTV wants me….so I just hope that the government wants me too….

The Endless Wait...
It has been exactly two weeks since my interview with MTV…they said they were going to get back to me by LAST Friday….but sadly, no phone call and no email. Hmmmm….how long must this torturous wait, for a final decision, drag on? I mean, I find it a challenge to wait at a bus stop for 15 minutes…or even waiting for a friend who is running late (normally its ME who’s late)…so waiting TWO flippin’ weeks for an answer is like, TOO much for me! I’m dyin’ here. I just want to know, one way or another….YES…or NO. Then I can move on with life and make some important decisions.
I’m especially worried now because the dreadful SARS outbreak is worsening in Singapore, China and Hong Kong. I was watching CNN and an economist was saying SARS is significantly affecting the Singapore economy…in a BAD way, and the virus is feared to have started spreading in the city! People are loosing their jobs again…and companies are issuing hiring freezes. I mean, the tourism industry is the real victim here…I know this….but nobody is talking about the effects on the entertainment business. Even with the threat of SARS people will still watch MTV right? All those long hours of confinement…they’ll NEED to do something!
Well, it’s any day now. Good or bad news, I’ll be relieved to finally know the verdict.
